Welcome to Mississippi River Rentals. We appreciate your patronage, and understand you’re the reason we are in business. That being said, we intend to provide you with the best vacation possible, and encourage all suggestions to improve our services to you. If there are items or your crew would like: (I. E. a fishing boat) or to have your galley stocked before you arrive, don’t hesitate to call us. Consider us your river concierge. As
a special bonus for those who choose to take advantage of our early boarding
option, we will attempt to provide your training cruise upon arrival, and allow
you to spend that evening at the beach, as opposed to spending the evening of Early Boarding at the marina.
To make this happen we will need some help from you. If you can arrive at the marina with all of your shopping completed we will have a better chance to get you on the water right-away. One of the most
often forgotten items is a fishing license.
Fishing licenses are not available at the marina. Please plan to purchase fishing licenses before arrivival.
Please keep in mind that training must be completed early enough so that you have time to cruise to the beach before dark. Our insurance company does not insure us for navigation after dark. If training is not possible on the evening of Early Boarding it will then be on the following morning at 9:00 am. There are no refunds due to bad weather. It is normal to have an occasional heavy storm, however, being in the midwest in the summer months, if you wait 20 minutes the weather will change. The Legal Stuff Our insurance company and your safety require that no training cruises be provided during the time that any of your crew is inebriated. Mississippi River Rentals, LLC trainers and/or Operations Manager have sole authority in the decision to delay training. We ask that you prepare your crew to arrive for training in a ready state. Any loss of time due to delayed training cannot be refunded. Please inform your entire crew of this policy. We apologize for sounding as though we are trying to put a damper on your vacation, but it has become necessary to eliminate drunken operation of the yachts. Since you are responsible for negligent damage to the yacht, following this rule will reduce your risk and possibly save your life. Please wait until your yacht is parked before drinking. All of us at Mississippi River Rentals, LLC look forward to providing you and your crew with the most memorable vacation you have ever had and promise to work hard to guarantee cherished memories. Preventing late return fees We do not want to charge a late return fee, and by following our recommendations you can be assured of having the boat returned on time. Our guests travel from all over the globe to spend their vacation with MRR. We are honored by their trust in us and do everything we can to make sure the boat is available and ready when it is expected to be. Because the next group following’ you wants to start their vacation on time we must charge a late return fee of $100 per hour charged in 15 minute increments commencing with the first 15 minutes you are late. All boats are due back at 11:00 AM on the last day of your trip. As you would expect, we accept no excuses for late returns, all late returns will be assessed the late fee. Being delayed on the wrong side of the lock, because "you’re waiting for a barge" is not acceptable. Neither storms nor fog are accepted as justification for late returns. For this reason, we suggest that you spend your last night in pool 8 (South of Lock 7 and north of Lock 8). Pool 8 is the pool in which La Crosse is located. By spending the night in pool 8, you eliminate the possibility of waiting hours for a barge to lock through or delays due to weather. Remember, if a barge is “locking through”, you may have to wait as long as 2 ½ hours. Sometimes the wait is longer if the barge has trouble. In pool 8, about 8 miles south of La Crosse you will find beautiful island called Crater Island. Crater is one of the nicest islands on the river and provides 70’ hills of sand as well as panoramic vistas of the Goose Island area. This is a perfect spot to take in a sunset or sunrise and is the perfect spot to spend the last evening of your vacation.
